About the campus

Residential colleges, a compact campus, and a city you walk through to get anywhere.

Yale sits inside downtown New Haven rather than apart from it. Students live in fourteen residential colleges, each with its own courtyard, dining hall and library, and the walk from a science building to a coffee shop is usually under ten minutes. Your guide lives here — they'll show you where they study, eat and spend a Saturday.

Upcoming live tours

Pick a time and a language

Times are in campus time with your own beside them. One price covers your whole family watching together on one screen.

No group tours scheduled in this language yet

We add inventory as demand comes in. Tell us when you’d like to tour and we’ll schedule around it.

Private tours

Your questions. Your interests. Your tour.

Just your family

Say what you want to see — the engineering buildings, where students hang out, the walk from the dorms to class — and your guide takes you there.

Book it the same way as any other tour: pick the time and language that suit you, and we assign a guide who leads private tours. Guides keep discretion over where they can film safely and where visitors are allowed.

No private slots open right now

Private tours are released as guides post their availability. Ask us for a time and we’ll open one.

What you’ll explore

A real walk, not a fixed route.

Most tours cover Old Campus, the residential college courtyards, the main libraries and the central green, with detours based on what you ask about. Routes change with the weather, the time of day and what's open — a live tour is a real walk, not a fixed track.

  • Routes vary. Weather, time of day and your questions all change the walk. No two tours match.
  • Some spaces are off-limits. Residence halls, labs and libraries may be closed to visitors or can't be filmed that day.
  • Live means live. If weather or connectivity stops a tour, we reschedule it or refund you in full.

  • Small group tour

    —per family
