Questions
Everything families ask before booking.
A current student walks campus live while you watch from home. Here’s the rest.
The tours
- Is this a recording, a webinar, or a 360° tour?
- None of those. A current student is physically walking campus with a camera at the time you booked, on a live video call with you.
- What actually happens on a live tour?
- Your guide walks outside and joins a video call. You see their point of view, they talk you through what you're looking at, and you ask questions the whole way through.
- How long is a tour?
- Usually about an hour. The exact length is shown on every tour before you book.
- What if the weather is bad?
- Guides go out in ordinary weather — it's part of an honest picture of a campus. If conditions make a tour unsafe or the connection unusable, we reschedule or refund you in full.
- Can we go inside buildings?
- Sometimes. Guides go where visitors are allowed and where they can film comfortably. Residence halls, labs and some libraries are often off-limits, and that varies by day.
- Can we decide where to go?
- Ask for what you want to see and your guide will take you there when they can. On private tours that's the whole point — your questions, your interests, your tour. Guides always keep discretion over where they can safely and legally go.
Booking and payment
- Can my whole family watch on one screen?
- Yes, and it costs the same. Prices are per family, not per person — a parent and student watching together is one booking. We ask roughly how many of you there'll be so your guide knows.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Enter your details, pay, and your confirmation and join link arrive by email. If you want to see all your tours in one place, we'll email you a sign-in link — still no password.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes — free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts. Reply to your confirmation email and we'll refund you. If we cancel a tour, you're refunded in full.
- What if I miss it?
- Get in touch. We'll usually move you onto another tour.
- Is the payment secure?
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Languages and timezones
- Which languages can I book in?
- Whatever our guides at that campus currently offer — English plus others such as Mandarin, Spanish, Korean and Japanese. Language is shown on every tour, and you filter by it on each campus page.
- How do the times work if I'm abroad?
- Every tour shows the campus time and your own local time side by side, and we flag when the date is different where you are. Your confirmation email shows both.
Guides
- Who are the guides?
- Currently enrolled undergraduates at the campus you're touring. We verify their university email and student ID by hand before they lead anything.
- Do I choose my guide?
- No — you choose the campus, time and language, and we assign a verified guide who leads that format. Whoever it is appears on the tour before you book, so you know who you'll meet.
- Are guides paid?
- Yes. Guides are employed and paid by the hour, so nobody is working for tips alone. You can tip after a tour if you'd like to; it goes to them on top of their pay.
About us
- Are you affiliated with these universities?
- Prospect is an independent company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any university named on this site. We're a company that hires students at those campuses to show you around.
- Do you help with admissions?
- No. We don't advise on applications, essays or your chances anywhere. We show you what campuses are actually like so you can decide where to apply and where to visit.
- What do you do with my information?
- We use it to run your booking and to send you tour emails. Student ID documents from guide applicants are stored privately and are never published. We don't sell data or run third-party ad trackers.
